Emotional Resilience
Helping TCKs Name, Understand, and Grow Through Their Feelings
What Are the Emotional Resilience Monsters?
Meet our friendly Emotional Resilience Monsters — a set of colourful, printable cards designed to help Third Culture Kids (TCKs) explore and express their emotions in healthy, faith-filled ways.
Each monster represents a different feeling — from Joy to Worry, Excitement to Loneliness, Bravery to Sadness — giving children language and imagery to name what’s happening inside.
These cards bring emotional learning to life through creativity, humour, and faith reflection — helping kids see that every emotion belongs, and that God can meet them in each one.
Why Emotional Resilience Matters for TCKs
Growing up between cultures, TCKs experience change constantly — new schools, languages, friendships, and goodbyes.
Without tools to process those transitions, emotions can feel big, confusing, or even hidden.
The Monster Cards make emotional conversations fun and accessible:
🧩 Give emotions a face and name
💬 Start family or classroom conversations
🎨 Use play and creativity to reduce emotional overwhelm
✝️ Integrate faith — learning that feelings aren’t “good” or “bad,” they’re opportunities to connect with God and others
How to Use the Monster Cards
You can print, cut, and use the Emotional Resilience Monsters in countless ways!
For Families:
Draw a card at dinner or bedtime and ask, “When did you feel like this today?”
Use them during a move to talk about big emotions like fear, excitement, or sadness.
For Teachers, Counsellors & Mission Teams:
Create a “Feelings Wall” or “Monster Corner” where students can post their daily emotions.
Pair cards with journaling or prayer activities.
